What is the role of a mentor?
BMU Institute mentors are role models for students. Their role is to help them succeed in their academic career by guiding them each week in their projects with their expertise. As a mentor, you monitor your students’ progress during mentoring meetings and share problems and challenges related to your students to help them achieve their goals.
How many students can I expect to mentor, can I start with one student and be assigned to others later?
A mentor can accompany from 1 to 10 students. BMU Institute will make every effort, based on the volume of activity, to assign the requested number of students to the mentor.
Can I mentor students for different courses?
Typically at BMU Institute, mentors begin working on a specific course. However, you can eventually ask to work on other courses after 3 months, once you have more experience as a mentor.
How much time per week do I need to prepare for the mentoring sessions?
It is always best to take some time before your sessions to prepare and then complete the session notes.
How much do I get paid for mentoring hours?
At the BMU Institute, we offer a remuneration between 15€ and 40€ per hour/per student. It is important to remember that mentoring is about helping students complete their training on time and is still passive income, unlike your main business.
Should I pay to become a mentor at BMU Institute?
A small account creation fee of 50 Euro is required for each mentor.
How many years of professional experience does it take to become a mentor?
Mentors typically have a minimum of 3-6 years of professional experience and at least 2 years of professional experience in the relevant track.
What documents do I need to become a mentor? Why do I need to provide these documents?
If your application has been accepted, we will ask you to send us the following documents:
- a copy of your identity card
- a clean criminal record
- a copy of your last diploma(s)
- Proof of registration of a company (or an independent company)
- Payment of your 50 Euro account creation fee
These documents allow us to establish your contract. Once the contract is signed, we will give you access to the mentor’s tools. You will then officially become a mentor and we will send you an email regarding the next steps in the integration process.
How many hours per week can I expect to spend mentoring (per student)?
Each student can have one session per week with their mentor. Depending on the student’s profile, sessions last between 45 and 90 minutes. You can schedule your mentoring sessions at a time that is convenient for you: weekdays or weekends, days or evenings.
Should I be legally allowed to work in my country of residence to apply as a mentor?
BMU Institute mentors are located anywhere in the world and must be legally authorized to work in their country of residence under an independent or corporate status. Mentors must also report mentoring income to their local tax authorities.

What is the role of an instructor?
As an instructor, the trainer must effectively transmit training content (theoretical knowledge or practical knowledge) using various teaching strategies based on the use of ICT. The role also includes suggesting relevant learning strategies to learners, based on their learning style, and providing coaching.

At the BMU Institute, we offer compensation in terms of percentage. Instructors can receive between 25% and 40% of the training fees per student.
